About

I started this site out of a love for food and a passion for good nutrition. I grew up cooking, gardening, and canning with my mother, who worked for over 20 years as a talented baker for a gourmet food and gifts purveyor. Creativity in her kitchen runs rampant and the core culinary concepts are always expressed in some new way. When they stayed to dinner, my friends always knew to never ask what was in the food, because they might just find out.

Early in my relationship with my husband, cooking was a way of bonding and getting to know each other. That pursuit has morphed into our own shared art form, at some times a well-oiled machine and at others a prolific mess. Cooking is an interest I’ve come to cherish with him now that we’re both busy, working parents. Whether we’re planning meals around both our travel schedules or preparing a feast al-fresco for 12 guests, I try to put thought and heart into every meal. The recipes I post are of my own creation unless otherwise noted.

Cooking and sharing family meals was ingrained in me as a child and this skill is something I’ll never be able to break free of… Even if I ever wanted to!

A Few Notes:

As of June, 2008, I have scraps of paper in various places that were quick records of the recipes I liked or that I fine-tuned to be “just right.” I’ll keep adding new ones as I go, but it may take me a while to build up the online collection of the ones scattered about. This will always be a work in progress.

You may notice that I don’t cook with a lot of salt. This seems to drive my husband crazy, but I believe the flavor of the food itself should be what you taste. That’s not to say I don’t believe in seasoning — I do. However, I tend to go light on the salt because I’m sensitive to it. Some palettes may need additional, and I’m not offended by that. I’ve just kept the recipes as I like to taste them.
